Ahead of Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area’s premiere on June 24, Netflix released new stills and a poster of the series on Friday. Though each still reminds us of shots from the original Money Heist, there’s something about its Korean remake which piques our interest.
The latest poster is the first one to include the entire star cast along with the hostages who become casualties of the heist at the Unified Korea Mint.
The new trailer gives a look at the conflict that led to the unification of the Koreas, which also leads to the minting of a new united currency for the new economic union. Even though everyone thought that the two nations coming together would be an improvement, the reality is that the average person continued to suffer financially while the rich continued to get richer. With nothing left to lose, the gang of criminals hatches the plan to pull off one big-money heist, with them dawning the familiar red jumpsuits that fans of the original series will know all too well.
Korea's showrunners have expressed a willingness to retain the essence of the original Money Heist series, with the Netflix remake attempting to replicate the physicality of Pina's original cast. Squid Game's Park Hae-soo will lend menace to the character Berlin, while celebrated South Korean actors Yoo Ji-tae and Jeon Jong-seo will play the main characters Professor and Tokyo, respectively.
The upcoming season of Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area will consist of a total of 12 episodes with the first part of the season containing the first six episodes, which will all premiere on Netflix on June 24.
