Kakao Entertainment's music platform Melon announced on the 21st that it will hold the 'Melon Music Awards 2021 (MMA 2021)' online from 18:00 on December 4th.
"MMA" is the first music awards ceremony held online in 2005, and the winners are selected every year by reflecting member voting and expert screening based on the usage data of Melon members, the nation's largest music platform.
Since 2009, the area has been expanded offline, and it has been held online and offline every year until 2019. This year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the goal is to hold another online non-face-to-face event following last year to provide a place for artists and music fans around the world to share stories for a year and dream of the next.
"MMA 2021" will showcase personalized awards ceremony contents and various events starting next month through individual data analysis, taking advantage of Melon's strength, which has 60 billion annual appreciation data of more than 5 million paid members. In addition, as it has created numerous "legendary stages," it heralded a spectacular stage production that will captivate global K-pop fans again this time.
"MMA 2021" is a global festival that anyone who loves K-pop, including artists, music fans, and officials, can participate and enjoy through Melon's various contents, Kakao Entertainment's Lee Je-wook said. "It will be a hopeful music festival that opens the post-COVID-19 era while talking with music for a year."
The awards ceremony can be easily participated in and enjoyed through various online channels such as Melon app/web, Kakao TV app/web, and 1theK YouTube channel.
