[BBANGYA NEWS｜Yulia Cho] The Boyz debuted in December 2017 were primarily known as a group with Joo Haknyeon in them. Joo Haknyeon is a trainee from Mnet audition program 'Produce 101', Sunwoo auditioned from Mnet 'High Rapper', Kevin performed in SBS TV 'K-Pop Star 6', and Younghoon Hun acted in MTV's 'What a Man' music video.
In 2018 alone, the group won seven ‘Rookie of the Year’ trophies at various awards, including the 2018 Korean Popular Music Awards(KPMA) and the Asian Artist Awards(AAA), won the first trophy in music broadcast in 2019 with Bloom Bloom.
2019 was the year The Boys' overseas activities were the most active. In May, they completed the first Japan tour and attended the K-Con stage. In July, they met fans with fan-cons in eight cities in seven Asian countries. The Boys, released the first Japanese mini album “TATTOO” in November, swept the top of the local charts such as Oricon, Billboard Japan, and Line Music chart. The Boys' Japanese new song 'Tattoo' won the first place in Japan Tower Record’s daily album reservation sale ranking. Driven by this momentum, they participated as a K-pop artist at the Japan's biggest music festival 'Summer Sonic 2019' in August. Later in December, they were on stage in four European countries: Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. They won the World Rookie of the Year at the Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards in 2019.
They released the first studio album 'REVEAL' this February and announced that they will have a solo concert at the Olympic Hall to celebrate the second year of their debut. Just like the name, ‘REVEAL’ is an album that shows another side of the members. Sunwoo and Eric who have always participated in the songwriting and composing of previous albums were listed as songwriter and composers while Sangyeon, Jacob and Kevin tried composing songs for the first time on this album.
