On the 9th, the Asian Film Awards announced the 15th Asian Film Awards candidate. A total of 36 films produced in eight Asian regions were finally selected, and seven Korean films were included, including "Deliver Us From Evil," "Three Sisters," "Voice of Silence," "Space Sweepers," "The Book of Fish," "Call," and "Aloners."
Among them, director Lee Joon-ik's "The Book of Fish" was nominated in four categories, including the Best Picture and Best Director Award, which are major categories of the Asian Film Awards.
Candidates for the best male and female lead also include Korean actors, drawing attention to whether they will win the award. Yoo Ah-in, who moved the audience's hearts only with gestures and facial expressions in "Voice of Silence," and Jeon Jong-seo, who was highly praised for her overwhelming presence and intense madness in the Netflix movie "Call," were nominated.
In addition, Park Jung-min of "Deliver Us from Evil" was nominated for the supporting actor award, Jang Yoon-joo of "Three Sisters" was nominated for the supporting actor award, and Gong Seung-yeon of "Aloners" was nominated for the rookie actor award.
The Asia Film Awards Academy (AFAA) was established in 2013 by the Hong Kong International Film Festival, the Busan International Film Festival, and the Tokyo International Film Festival for the development of Asian films. The AFAA has held the Asian Film Awards every year to commemorate and celebrate the films and their works that have been building the Asian film industry.
Meanwhile, the 15th Asia Film Awards awards ceremony will be joined by the Busan International Film Festival once again following 2020. It will be held on October 8 in a hybrid manner that combines online and face-to-face participation in Busan.
