Netflix announced on the 21st that Kim Hee-sun, Lee Hyun-wook, Jung Yoo-jin, Cha Ji-yeon, and Park Hoon will appear in the new original series "The Bride of Black."
"The Bride of Black" is a real-life satire that follows those who dream of marrying Black, the highest grade of a high-class marriage information company, who dream of turning their lives around by marriage and remarriage to enter or maintain their respective desires.
Actress Kim Hee-sun plays Seo Hye-seung, who lived as a housewife in Gangnam and lost everything in an instant. Hye-seung happens to meet Jin Yu-hee, who turned her life upside down at Lex, a marriage intelligence company, and participates in the race of desire for Black, which is in the top 0.001%.
Actor Lee Hyun-wook plays Lee Hyung-joo, chairman of a self-made venture company. The black-rated groom Hyung-ju, who everyone covets, wants to overcome the failure of his first marriage and find a second-marriage partner that benefits him.
Actor Jung Yoo-jin plays Jin Yu-hee, a lawyer for the legal team of a conglomerate, at all costs to be in the top class. Actor Park Hoon plays Cha Seok-jin, a successful professor who is at odds with Choi Yoo-sun over his father's huge fortune. Actress Cha Ji-yeon plays Choi Yoo-sun, the host and CEO of Lex, a marriage information company that has both chaebol and elite and the nation's top spouse.
"The Bride of Black" will be written by Lee Keun-young, who wrote "I'm Mom" and "Mother is My Daughter-in-law," and directed by Kim Jung-min, PD of "Lovers at 3:00 p.m. on weekdays," to sharply portray commercialized marriages and snobbish real society where conditions come before love.
"The Bride of Black" will be released to more than 190 countries around the world via Netflix.
