[BBANGYA NEWS|Joan Park] In over 10 years of Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart history, only 8 K-pop female artists have topped the chart. From 2NE1 to Mamamoo, female K-pop acts are re-writing their own legend. Pioneer of the chart is none other than 2NE1.

Before Psy debuted at No.1 with ‘Gangnam Style’ in 2012, 2NE1 topped the chart with ‘I’m the Best’ in 2011 followed by ‘Goodbye’.
Blackpink is the K-pop female act to have the most no.1 singles on the chart, starting with 2016’s hit single ‘Boombaya’. Every song Blackpink released peaked at No.1, from ‘Boombaya’, ‘Playing with Fire’, ‘As If It’s Your Last’, ‘Ddu-Du-DDu-Du’ to ‘Kill This Love’.

Red Velvet and TWICE are tie on the record with two songs each that peaked the chart. Red Velvet’s ‘RBB’, ‘Psycho’ as well as TWICE’s ‘Likey’ and ‘Feel Special’ peaked at No.1 on the chart.

Female solo artists have also made their way into the chart. Loona, a former member of f(x) and Younha ranked no.1 with their songs ‘365’ and ‘Winter Flower’.
Mamamoo debuted at no.1 with ‘Hip’ in 2019 while (G)I-읻’ㄴ miyeon and Soyeon entered no.1 with ‘Pop/Stars’ they released as a unit group K/DA.
